Hope you have had a warm, relaxing and lovely Christmas this year.
Here in Southport it has been relatively warm and there has been no snow – we have been known to get snow in April – so plenty of time to go yet!
In 2014 Southport has new Christmas Lights – the Council have been busy taking down the old lights and winding new white led lights around the trunks and branches of tree-lined Lord Street. At each end of the main streets there are bigger displays – and at our roundabout we have sparkling balls and a ‘Welcome to Southport’ sign! There is a picture of the ball lit up (for David R – the sign hadn’t gone up yet), and one later at night.
In the Apartments we have been busy putting up Christmas trees and have 2 new Twig Trees – in Apartments 3 and 7 (the penthouses). We also have 2 new Dolce Gusto coffee machines for guests to use, new comfy red settees for Apartment #7 including a big sofa bed, new fridge in Apartment #2, new hob in Apartment #1 and a new 4-slice toaster for Apartment #3

Welcome to the Shelbourne August News Letter.
The big news for us is that our daughter Stephanie has got married! So congratulations to the new Mr & Mrs Owen

Now onto Apartment information – we have had lots of families staying with us in August, including new additions since the last time some stayed For those with little ones – remember that we supply travel cots and high chairs on loan and free of charge – please bring your own bedding.
Dave has had problems with the Apartments’ Dysons this month! It’s not just our house where long hair wraps round the roller and causes the belt to melt (oops!).
We have also altered the pricing structure, so that there is a standard occupancy for each Apartment, then it costs more to have more people in it. Note that when we add extra beds to Apartments these are proper beds that we add (unless you particularly ask for e.g. a folding bed).
Standard and Maximum occupancies are now:
Apartment #1 Standard = 6 ; Max = 10
Apartment #2 Standard = 5 ; Max = 7
Apartment #3 Standard = 5 ; Max = 7
Apartment #4 Standard = 4 ; Max = 7 + 1 child
Apartment #5 Standard = 4 ; Max = 6
Apartment #6 Standard = 5 ; Max = 7
Apartment #7 Standard = 5 ; Max = 10

Good Morning from Southport!
Well July has certainly been eventful!
Starting off with with Ricoh Women’s British Open at Royal Birkdale, with qualifying in local courses. We had a range of nationalities staying with us – Northern Irish, Spanish, Colombian, Norwegian, Swedish and American. Southport was buzzing with excitement all week!
Then the following week was the Men’s Open at Royal Liverpool – unfortunately we are too far away (by road) for Rory McIlroy to stay with us!
Then we had some lovely celebrations starting off from the Shelbourne with weddings on consecutive weekends – very best of luck and best wishes for the future to the new Mr & Mrs Somerville and Mr & Mrs Chapman
This month with the help of our younger daughter and prospective son-in-law Jack – both just back from University, we have been making improvements to the outside lawn areas. We have added 2 new 8-seater picnic benches and cleared out some borders, added a variety of plants and also put some patio tubs around the place. Still some way to go, but it is an ongoing project for us.
We have also added Apartment #5 and #7 to Holiday Lettings, tweeked our Booking.Com listing and added photos of Apartment #3 with the extra double bed in the lounge (see here). We have also put up extra blinds in Apartment #3 and Apartment #1 (carrying on a lighter seaside theme, and adding a bit more privacy). We hope you like the changes and can come and stay with us soon!

Well, May is going out with a big smile – what a lovely day today!
Tomorrow is the last day of the Food & Drink Festival at Victoria Park – hope a successful time has been had by guests and visitors.

The Car Park has had a new coat – final surface coat has been completed – by David Rowell Ltd of Southport www.davidrowell.co.uk
Dave is just contemplating where the white lines should go!
We now have two brand new 8-seater picnic tables for all our guests – on the lawns outside Apt 1 and behind Apts 4 & 5
The new building of 2 splendid town houses behind the Shelbourne is now complete, replacing the tatty run-down cottage that was there before….
And we still get marvellous sunsets on many evenings throughout the summer
And we still have a few days available here and there in June, for those of you after a last minute break. Email us, or give us a call!

Southport has made it into the Sunday Times Top 100 Best Places to Live But of course!

And in the Shelbourne – we are continually striving to improve and upgrade the facilities – new ceramic pans are undergoing trials, led lamps to start replacing some of the tungsten and halogen ones, mattress testing and upgrades, the ‘flaky’ wi-fi router has been replaced in Apartment #1, 2 extra flat screen tv/dvd combos are now in Apartment #1 (so now all Apartments have at least one extra tv as well as the main one in the lounge) and we have an extra black-out blind to go in the front bedroom of Apartment #6 and are just waiting (or Dave is!) for some free time to fit it!
We are also the proud ‘owners’ of a big brown recycle bin – but only dry cardboard and plastic bottles are allowed in it – for the near future!
